It s Like Coaching Richmond

You know sometimes I feel like being a super coach must be a lot like supporting Richmond. Every new pre season brings with it unbridled optimism as your carefully sculpted side tears it up on the training track, and you just can’t wait for the real stuff to begin so you can start dominating. Alas, as Richmond learned all too well, the best laid plans can unravel alarmingly quickly, as I’m sure most supercoachers would agree. Only two hours into season 2009 and Richmond’s finals aspirations are dealt a mortal blow from which they don’t look like recovering, while if you were unfortunate enough to have Raines, Anthony or Cousins in your team you didn’t fare much better. If you thought the worst was over, you were sorely mistaken.

Are you lucky to have trades left by round 14?

Have you ever traded a player back into your team after trading him out only weeks earlier?

Do you spend countless hours researching and fine-tuning your side, and still can’t work out why you struggle to crack the top 10,000?

Have you promised yourself, after finalizing your side for the 174th time, that you’ll leave it alone until the season begins, only to be back online mere hours later trying to find that extra $30,000 to squeeze Ablett in?

Is Josh Drummond in your team?

Do you create alternate teams just so you can get a guilt-free, midweek trade fix?

Ever wondered why that girl you just met at the bar isn’t interested in discussing whether you should put Pavlich or Boomer as your captain this week?

Are you so desperate for any and all things supercoach, that you’ll read anyone’s opinion… even mine?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then like me you are a supercoach tragic, and you are in the right place. Snoop’s Dog House is your one stop shop for knee-jerk trades, player rants and grossly misinformed opinions.

The Dog House is a place where trading on a Monday morning is perfectly acceptable. Where a three week injury to one of your premiums is enough to give him the arse. And where one can safely live with the eternal hope that this will finally be Sylvia’s breakout year, or that Chappy’s hammies will endure 22 weeks.

So join me during the year as we embark on a journey of false hope, anguish and mediocrity, before ultimately giving up at round 16 and declaring that next season can’t come soon enough.
